Founded by Dina Shoman, inherQuests is a company that creates fun financial education products for kids.
A banking veteran with a successful track record in the finance industry, Dina became the youngest and only female Executive Vice President at Arab Bank in her 20s. She sat on the boards of multiple banks and NGO entities, lending her expertise to help organizations like the Jordan River Foundation and Injaz. When her family decided to leave their 82-year-old banking legacy, she began to explore how she could combine her background, experiences, and talent together with her passion for education, creativity, and helping others.
Dina felt privileged and grateful for her upbringing and the unwavering financial and emotional support she had received from her family over the years, and she wanted to find a way for other girls and women to experience the same. She often heard stories of women being burdened by student loans, mortgages, and credit cards as they drowned in debt and was frustrated to see how they felt stuck in jobs they hated and in living situations they didn’t want to be in – just to be able to pay the bills. Dina heard numerous regrets of women saying they just didn’t know any better and wished they learned about money earlier on, so they could have made better decisions for themselves. They also worried that their daughters would follow the same path.
Dina needed to do something: she wanted to find a way that would build young women’s financial confidence and help them make smarter choices for themselves. Most importantly, she wanted to help them become independent and free to make their own choices in life, so they could follow their dreams. That’s when she realized that financial lessons were best taught at a young age – as early as 5 years old.
Valuing the financial lessons she had learned as a little girl, but also remembering how boring they could be for a child, she knew she had to create something special.
After extensive research, she came up with the golden ticket: experiential and play-based games and activities, done at home with parents or caregivers, that are both fun and educational.
To make sure inherQuests would combine world-class learning with world-class fun, Dina worked closely with talented education, child development, content creation and toy designing women experts with experience building products and curriculum for Girls on the Run, Nickelodeon, Jr., K’NEX, Crayola, GoldieBlox, and more.
